This happened today just down the main street from us less than a mile, past the race track. We are stunned and saddened. I don't know the clerk but hope we are all given a chance to send our wishes for her recovery.

Chesterfield Police are searching for four suspects wanted for robbing and injuring a Hull Street Road car wash employee. According to investigators, three men entered the $3 Car Wash at Hull Street Road and Genito Road just before noon Wednesday. Police say the suspects forced an employee to open the safe at gunpoint, demanded money, then slashed the employee's throat. The suspects fled in a green Dodge Intrepid with 30-day tags. A fourth suspect was driving the vehicle.
Police say all of the suspects appeared to be black males, 18-25 years old. Two of the suspects are about 5 foot 10 and have dark complexions. A third suspect is about 6 feet with a light complexion, last seen wearing a blue shirt.

The victim sustained non life-threatening injuries.

I hope she recovers from her ordeal quickly. That is so scary, though.

Thanks, Chan. You know, what with helping my student with her criminal justice classes and working with two friends to change the laws regarding mandatory sentencing for non-violent crimes, we end up talking about each thing that happens in our area or across the country, and considering the implications.

Today I am working on paper about suicide-by-cop, a new phrase for me. It's apparently on the increase. Add in the 14 yr old with the weapons cache that was caught today, the one who shot up his classmates yesterday - I am really hoping to find a way to help our society heal. We need to be pro-active but it's hard to figure out just what will help. There are some new books - one called Lost Boys - about the problems and I think, possible solutions. My reading list gets longer.

How are you all coping with these issues where you live? Anyone getting active on them?
