a beagle puppy! Yay!

We have been set on a beagle for a long time... research has told us they are a great family pet. And, we want a smaller dog, so this fit right in with the plan. I was looking around on the net, because I was sure we would have to drive far to get one (and also thinking it would be months out, too)... but on a whim I looked in the classifieds. There was an add, and I was hesitant but eventually emailed the family - they emailed back promptly and seem great! They sent TONS of pics, too. We are going out to meet them and the pups on Sunday, and then if all goes well we will be picking one up the following week (after my two full time daycare kids are out - and I only have two part timers. Strict AF rules about daycare and pets...) I hope this works out!

Oh neat! Hell, everyone's getting puppies. If I didn't have four cats, I'd consider getting one. ;))

Dogs and cats can get along GREAT! Our cats go out the back with the dogs!
When we had our rabbits, we had, six dog, three cats and four Rabbits all playing "Tip" out the back for hours everyday!

So.. we went out yesterday and met with the family - they were great! We picked out the sweetest little boy, and Fudge will be coming home with us next Sunday, after all of my full time daycare kids are gone. They have been brought up with kids and tons of other animals (the family lives a ways out of town, on a small farm type property)... and they were all so playful and happy. They looked good, the parents looked great, so everything just seemed to fit great. We have picked up everything except for a bed/pad for inside of the kennel. He will see the vet a few days after he comes home.

I'm so excited! Pets just complete the family, ya know? I'll post pics once he is home!

That's wonderful! You probably know then that the biggest issue with beagles is they like to follow their noses! Making sure he can't dig under the fence or slip between the gate and the post is critical. If we had a beagle I would get that computer chip put into him just so he could be more easily identified when he gets loose! lol

Fudge is a great name - I am sure the kids will love him. :ronde:
