Where where you when you found out?
What were your first thoughts?
How did you feel in the following months?
Did it change you?
Did you know anybody who was personally affected by it?

Where where you when you found out?
I was making lunch for a patient at work and she started screaming for me, i dropped lunch and ran into the TV room as the news was showing the video footage of the first plane hitting the tower. I watched as the news channel was showing the the devastation it caused and then the second plane hit the other tower as the cameras were live on air.
What were your first thoughts?
What the fuck? How the hell did they do that, was it an accident? And when the second tower was struck my thoughts were along the lines of holy shit someone just declared war on America - its going to be world war three.
How did you feel in the following months?
For months afterwards i waited for it to be Britains turn. I really didn't think we would get away without a similar attack on British soil.
Did it change you?
It made me want to learn about these terrorist, i wanted to understand how people could make that acceptable to themselves. I still haven't found a satisfactory answer,
Did you know anybody who was personally affected by it?
My dads friend was killed he worked for an insurance company there. His wife and kids never got to bury him as his remains were not found.

It's still painful to think about it but....
I was at work. Only been there three days. When I first found out about it, I immediately called Rich. The phone was busy. So then I tried to call Chris. The phone was busy. Chris had called Rich with the news and they were talking about it. I just remember going through the day very numb. When I did finally get to talk to Rich I told him I hadn't seen the footage yet. He said "you don't want to". When I did at home that night, I lost it.
In the following months, I was angry at the stupidity of someone killing innocent people. I'm still angry. So that answers the next question. Yes, it did change me. I was always an American patriotic person. This made me more of one. I can't ever look at our flag again without tears in my eyes. We came back stronger than ever.
My very good friend, Adrienne, lost a friend of hers. A husband who was never recovered except for his wedding ring. He left behind a wife and two teenagers. Because he went to work that day.
September 11th is also my father's birthday. He doesn't want to tell people that anymore.

Where where you when you found out? I was at work making breakfast for the group home.
What were your first thoughts? I thought the first one was an accident, when I saw the second one hit, I knew it was bad.
How did you feel in the following months? That's when I started having panic attacks. They were out of control.
Did it change you? Absolutely...life isn't as peachy as I thought it was.
Did you know anybody who was personally affected by it? In one way or another it hits everyone...but no, i don't know anyone who personally lost someone.

Where where you when you found out? In bed. My now-ex called me and told me two planes hit the WTC.
What were your first thoughts? I didn't really care. I thought he meant they were little planes. Marlie came in to wake me up and my ex told me to just go watch TV and he'd call me back. I just held Marlie and prayed.
How did you feel in the following months? Proud of my country for doing so well. Honored to be a part of a world where others cared, too.
Did it change you? Yes, I began to realize that anyone can use a tragedy for their own personal gain and that pissed me off.
Did you know anybody who was personally affected by it? Just friends of friends. It hurt a lot of people in a lot of ways.

Where where you when you found out?
I was at work. I was working in an elementary school at the time, and I was on breakfast duty in the cafeteria when the teachers whose class I worked in came and told me.
What were your first thoughts?
I guess it didn't really register until the second plane hit. I guess I was shocked, and yet not really, because unfortuantely there are so many sick people in the world that nothing surprises me anymore.
How did you feel in the following months?
I felt really bad for those who were searching for family and friends. Andy and I got married 11 days after that. And I remember we talked about whether or not we should postpone the wedding. We decided to go ahead with it, and we had a special quiet moment before the ceremony started to pray for everyone.
Did it change you?
Yes, I don't like the idea of flying anymore.
Did you know anybody who was personally affected by it?
Yes, there were some peopleI went to high school with who worked in the towers. They were lucky and escaped, because they were just arriving when the first plane hit. There was a young woman, 23 I think, from my home town, who died in the towers. She graduated from the same high school my hubby did.

Where where you when you found out? I was at the place I worked at then, which was administrative in a Nursing Home and worked 8a-5p. Someone said something and I went to a patient's room and saw it on TV.
What were your first thoughts? "OMG"
How did you feel in the following months? Fear of terror in the states.
Did it change you? Not really.
Did you know anybody who was personally affected by it? A guy from my church---his brother worked at the Towers. He hadn't gone in yet that day because his baby had a doctor's appointment. He was going to go in after that appointment.

Where where you when you found out?
I was getting ready to go to the library to give a lesson on computers to elderly people.
What were your first thoughts?
What is the world trade center? What's going on?
How did you feel in the following months?
I felt deeply saddened, I was in shock and I was paranoid for my life. I remembering telling myself I would never travel again.
Did it change you?
It broadened my love for all countries. If anything it brought me closer to the world.
Did you know anybody who was personally affected by it?
I had an aquaintance whom died in the attack but I didn't know her really, she had e-mailed me once about a web site I was doing for Tori Amos but I never heard from her after that. After the attack, about a week later I heard the news that she had died on a site announceing tori fans who were in the attack, it was very sad news to hear that so many were in that building.

I was woken up to them talking about it on the radio. The station I listen to in the mornining is a very light fluffy format, no news what so ever. All talk. They were talking about the planes hitting the WTC and I was thinking they were talking about a War of the Worlds type scenerio, like what if something like this happened.
When I realized what happened I ended up late for work because i was watching it on tv.
I was just dumbfounded. I only had one customer at work that day. And she said she came in to get away from hearing about all this terror. I listened to it on the radio all day and ended up closing at 3:30 because I didn't want to be open anymore.
I think i watched that plane crash into the building over and over for the next week and a half. I was astounded that people could be so horrible.
