We were robbed at 3am last night. Someone broke into the house - the scary thing is they appear to have used a security key fob (the house has electric gates and access through the garage) Needless to say i am now shit scared in my own house.
They disturbed Baileys before they got much but its a big house and she was sleeping with us so they by the time she started barking and took off downstairs and we got up they had got away. They took my money (and id just been to the bank so there was 42000HUF ($200) in my purse. The took a photo of Richard from my purse and a 3D scan photo of Thea. They also took a photo frame with a picture of me and my brother Mark in it.
Richard has had to go to work because he is negotiating a massive contract with Nokia so i have to deal with the police on my own. It happened at 3am, its now 9am and still no police (nothing happens in a hurry in Hungary).
This sucks, i cant stop shaking now and i feel sick.

Well i had to go round the house with the police and we noticed a few other things missing - DVD player, camera stuff like that.
The police say that its gang thing here and there was probably at least 3 of them in the house :(
They also say that these people dont care if we have a dog - now they know where things like the TV and bigger more expensive stuff is they will most likely come back. I so didnt need to hear that. Apart from scaring the shit out of me the police were basically friggin useless.

Are guns legal there? A few lead pieces in their ass and they won't come back. And I bet if Bailey bit the crap out of one of them they'd care! She ain't no little dog! I'm so sorry this happened. Is there a lock on your bedroom door? And do you have a cell phone or something they can't cut the wire on to call for help? Oh wait that might not work if the lazy police can't get off their ass to help before 9 am. I'm so sorry Mel, nothing like feeling unsafe in your own home (((HUGS)))

(((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))
I know you don't like them, but I think you should get a gun and a cell like Elizabeth suggested. I know you have a cell, but put the police on speed dial.
Can you get an alarm system of some kind installed? That might be a good idea, too.
Just be extra safe, sweets.

I am so sorry Mel! Can you get some kind of security system put in? Keep your cell phone with you all the time! Dang cops need to get off their duffs and get to work cracking down on those bums! Please BE CAREFUL, hon!!!!:bearhug:

If you do go the gun route, please do take lessons on using it! And know your target! Common sense but things happen. Oh and get a gun safe! We have one to keep ours locked in.

By the end of the day i will have a security alarm with a panic button link to private security - Richards company are paying for it.
The photo thing is freaking me out. Josef went to talk to his friend who is a detective and he said that they took the photos either so they will know its us when we leave the house or because they have decided to target us for a mugging outside. He says that sometimes it can be more serious than that too with it being about taking me either taking Thea from me or holding me to Ransom. They would expect that Richard has a lot of money.
I so did not need to know about that.
I have to keep my cell with me at all times in my pocket not my bag. Josef has programmed my speed dials to him, the police, the security company and the international operator (because they answer in English)
Right now i just want to go home to England.

Oh Mel I'm so sorry, that is some scary crap. I was wondering about the photos too. If Richard doesn't mind, it might be a good thing for you to go to England until after Thea is born. They might be looking for a baby to steal. Ok, so I'm paranoid for you. There are some whack nut jobs out there! :bearhug:

A new house?? You just got settled, too. And you are so far along!!
Stupid ass people. Why can't people ever respect other people's property???
Mel, I am sorry you had to go through this. I wish I was there to help you through this. And the police, well - They weren't a lot of help. I wish I could give them a piece of my mind!

I'm so sorry, Mel that is just SOOO wrong. Do you have a garage that will be set with the security system?
That way you can put Thea in and get in the car before you open the door?

Mel, How frightening. I'm glad that they are looking into a security system as well as a new place for you to live.
Were the photos that they took in frames that could be expensive? Maybe that is why they took them?

It's so sad that people can't just leave other people alone! You have such a pretty house and these assholes violate your home and put fear into your lives. It's just sooooooooo NOT RIGHT!!!!!!! Now I'll be worrying. I really think you need to move back to England or where ever it is that the rest of your family is at. And if Richard's job doesn't put him back there----maybe he needs to find another job. Whatever it takes to make sure you are happy, secure and safe!

I am so sorry you are going through this right now. I was just wondering about the scan of Thea they took. Does it have any info on it that they could use for identity theft? I hate to bring that up, i know you are freaked as it is, but that might be something else to be on the look out for.
