View Full Version : Mom's afraid I'm going to get hurt...

Marlie started third grade today and I'm walking to the corner to wait for her to walk home this afternoon. My mother has asked me to call her and stay on the phone with her while I walk there and walk back.
She has this fear that some psycho is going to kill me to get the baby.
Now...that seems farfetched, but honestly it happens in this region a bit more than I'd like to admit. I suppose some crazy person could do that. It's a bit out there, but she's my mom.
So I'm going to be calling her and talking the whole time.
Concerned parent or overreaction? What do you think? Me? I'm leaning toward concerned parent.

Concerned parent. When I was pregnant with Greg, there was a big case in the media about that. He would lock the door everytime he left the house and wanted to know where I was and when I got home. It was annoying, but sweet at the same time.

I don't blame her for being worried either, She's just looking out for you.

You'll all be happy to know my friend, Hollie, came over and walked with me up to get Marlie. So I had a chaperone. LOL. It made mom and Chris happy and I have to admit that stuff worried me, too, before I discovered the miracle of Zoloft. ;)

Well now that you mention it, I think you should call me too, that way if you're mom's call drops I'll still be there.

I have to pick her up tomorrow so I'm sure I'll be on my phone. ;)

When I was that far along...well I never got past 38 weeks with either kid, but when I was hugely pregnant and out alone I would carry mace and my cell phone. It seemed with each pregnancy there would be a big story on the news about someone killing the woman for her baby. So I was really paranoid!

:giggle: that's walking when you're 9 months pregnant. I know I was lucky if I could get up off the couch at that stage!
