and the damage is really bad. i wish i could be down there to help right now. my mom said the tree is beyond huge. its too big to get around your arms, and its length is about half of their block long. theres a huge hole in their roof, which got bigger due to the storms rain. the back door in inaccessable. there are squirrels running through the house from the tree.
thankfully their insurance is being good. they are putting them up in a hotel, and fixing the house. unfortunatly the house will probably not be better for at least a month
my mom said she thought they were going to have to call the police to get my grandfather out. he and my grandmother both did not want to leave. they are stubborn eastern shore people whos mentalitiy is "thats my house and ill be damed if some fucking tree is going to make me leave"
my grandmother is in poor health, and is on oxygen. so the fire department had to get her out. its very hard for her to be anywhere right now. her dr arranged for her to stay in a nursing home, but she is refusing.
i feel bad for my mother, who is an only child, and has to handle this all by herself. we have other family in that area, but my mom is pretty much taking the brunt of it all.
im thankful no one was hurt. its just so scary having to face losing a place i have loved so much. i hope they will be able to fix it.
