Dose anybody know how many DPI i should scan at to print a 8x10 picture?

Depends on the quality you want your final pic to be
remember the higher the dpi, the higher the quality, the more size it will take up as a file

I'd scan it on the second highest setting your scanner will allow

The second highest DPI it will allow is 9600. I thought that would be too much?

if you want a good quality print its not
however is the 8x10 also the original size?

Scan it at 2400.

wait you're scanning from the photo and not a negitive or slide right?
300 or a little higher should be more then sufficient.
