every year i have no idea what to get my father for christmas. he is someone who is usually very content with life, and if he needs something, he gets it himself.
the only thing he asks for at christmas time, is from my grandmother, and its socks and underwear (and i refuse to buy my dad underwear!)
so, anyone have any good ideas on what to get dads for christmas? if its something more expensive, i could always go in with my sisters.
im pretty much open for any suggestion!

i think my number one choice right now for a gift for my dad, is getting therapy for my mother!

How about a portrait of you and your sister in a nice frame? It's not much but i'm sure he will love it.

A book of his hobby. (example: if he is into guitars, buy a book on guitars)

I'm in the same situation (or similar anyway). Anymore, I ask him to give me ideas of something he might like from me.
Recently I've gotten more creative - since my mother died, he eats a lot of frozen dinners, so I have made him a cooler full of food that can be frozen and heated. It took me quite some time to come up with that, though, lol, and it obviously doesn't work for everyone.

Make something for him. A blanket or something you crocheted or a quilt you make. That type of stuff is always good.

Chan i was thinking along the same line,.. for my mums 40th i made her a scrap book of her life,.. lucky for me i had HER only baby photos, and some of her 21st... which her dad was in too... then i added photos of myself, from birth to most recent... then my sister from birth to death, with a memory page,.. then good times which included random photos of friends and parties,. then i reseached her birth place Coventry England and added photos and info that i found online :)
the album i found was perfect and was only $15 and i used different wrapper paper (pattern print and plain colour sheets) for the backgrounds, bought stickers to much her and wrote random quotes thru out the book....
I was after something that suited only her and knew she would love.... and she did :) not sure if u have the time (it took me about 6 sitting over 2 wks to finish it)
if not a simple idea is to find a copy of the news paper from the day he was born :)

What does your dad always talk about wanting to do?

Dad's are hard. When I was younger, I got my dad ties and shirts. Then caps, sweaters, gloves. Much later.....I got him his Planter's Spanish Peanuts that he liked so much, shaving creme, after shave, and the tobacco he liked for his pipe. That probably doesn't help you at all, tho-------sorry. That was the kind of stuff my dad liked.
